5 Areas to Focus on forNew Jiu Jitsu White Belts

Step One.

Starting jiu jitsu, going to a new school, even walking into a room full of people you don’t know may be intimidating, however once you have passed that you have already accomplished step one. Show Up! Just by showing up for your class you are already that much more prepared than the average person who has no training at all, which is most of the world population.

Step Two.

Drill, Drill, Drill…..Drilling is the repetitive form of jiu jitsu that involves practicing movements over and over again to help retain the muscle memory of each movement. The more you drill the faster and smoother your technique will become. Find a partner and work on the basics, don’t try and get too fancy with things just yet, but focus on the submissions and moves that build the foundation for your jiu jitsu game moving forward.

Step Three.

Diet. What? Yes, Diet. There is no point in showing up to class with a poor diet, as it’s a bit like filling a race car with diesel when it needs high octane race fuel, you really wont get nearly the same result.
